CREDIT REPORTING

To compliment our extensive range of collection services, International Recovery Associates, Inc. became the first collection agency, authorized by Trans Union Credit Corporation, to include delinquent medical claims on it’s database. Instead of costly litigation, or the inability to collect and close these referrals, IRA provides this service to protect your interest and recover more of your lost dollars.

Our managers review accounts after exhausting all collection efforts. If an account is deemed uncollectible, IRA closes out the balance and, upon your approval, the account is transmitted to Trans Union to appear on the debtor’s credit report. Accounts are reported automatically or on a case by case basis depending on your inclinations. Undisputed accounts, greater than $75.00, having a good address are eligible to be reported.

Accounts placed with Trans Union would remain on the debtor’s credit report for up to seven years or until the debt is satisfied. If the patient goes for a loan, credit card, mortgage, or any other possible credit approval source, the outstanding debt due you would appear; thus preventing any additional credit being granted. The patient would be forced into satisfying the debt to repair their credit profile. When the payment is received it will appear on that month’s statement as well as reported to Trans Union. Please note however if the patient pays your office directly, it is vital that we be notified immediately so we may report this to the credit bureau. These accounts are still considered active; therefore, they can not be referred to any other agency.

Finally, please be assured that this service is within our right to provide to our clients and is in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
